Company Overview

Kalkitech helps in the digital transformation of the energy and utility industry to achieve operational excellence. Our solutions enable customers to implement mission-critical applications from the edge to the data center or cloud. To build standards-based solutions, services, and products, we invest extensively in research and development in several areas, including power systems engineering, thermal engineering, control theory and communication, and information technology. In 2014, Kalkitech acquired Applied Systems Engineering (ASE), a protocol technology leader and a leading manufacturer of Remote Terminal Unit (RTU)/Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) protocol test equipment for the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) industry. ASE has developed market-leading substation protocol test sets for more than 100 substation and industrial protocols over 40 years. We collaborate with leading companies, end customers, OEMs, and System Integrators in the Energy and Utilities Industry to provide market-leading solutions, products, and services. With solid partner networks across the globe and customers in over 50 countries, Kalkitech understands the regional challenges better and offers flexible, scalable, and secure solutions.

Prasanth Gopalakrishnan
Founder, President & CEO
Prasanth Gopalakrishnan is the founder and CEO of Kalkitech. He founded Kalkitech in May 1998 with a vision to make it a technology leader in the field of energy optimization and communication solutions. Over the years, he has assembled a strong management team and top engineering talent to establish Kalkitech as a specialized technology solutions provider for the energy industry. Prasanth has more than 22 years of experience in communication systems research and product development. His areas of specialization include standards-based communication and optimization technology in the energy and utility space. He is a member of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) LITD 10. Prasanth holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University.

George Punnoose
Executive Vice President & COO
George Punnoose is responsible for the company’s overall operations. He has more than 34 years of experience in the power industry. Prior to joining Kalkitech, George worked at Easun Reyrolle Limited for 11 years where he last served as President – India Business and was instrumental in growing it from Rs. 40 crores to Rs. 250 crores. Prior to that, he worked for 16 years at ABB where he last served as Head of Technology of the Utility Automation business unit and was responsible for the introduction of Digital Protection Relays in Indian Markets. George holds a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Kerala University.

Sushil Cherian
Co-Founder and Vice President – Power Generation
Sushil Cherian is the Co-founder of Kalkitech and has over 22 years of experience in Control and Automation Systems, specifically in the Power and Oil and Gas industries. His areas of specialization include Dynamic Controls, Dynamical Systems and Energetics, and Non-linear Systems. Prior to founding Kalkitech, Sushil worked with ACES Controls in Houston, TX, USA. Sushil holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Cochin University of Science and Technology, in the field of Thermal power plant modeling and simulation.

Jose Thomas
Vice President – Energy IoT
Jose Thomas has held various positions at Kalkitech over 20 years period, the most recent being VP Product Management for Kalkitech’s flagship product line. He is responsible for charting the entire product road-map. His areas of specialization include SCADA, Communication Protocols, RTU/IED, and SCADA-IT application integration. His industry affiliations include Member of IEC TC-57 WG-13 and WG-16, Secretary of Working Group on Common Information Models (IEC-61970, 61968, and 62325) of BIS LITD-10 Committee, Executive Committee Member of IEEE PES- Bangalore Chapter and Member of UCA Users Group. Jose holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Calicut University and an M.Sc. in Electrical Power Systems from the University of Manchester.

Johney Varghese
Vice President – Product Engineering Services
Johney Varghese is in charge of Engineering for Kalkitech’s Technology Services Group. He has 22+ years of experience in Implementation Services and IT technologies and extensive experience in managing large projects across verticals. Prior to joining Kalkitech, Johney Varghese worked for Bank of America and Wachovia Corporation in the US (now merged with Wells Fargo) as Vice President handling IT projects in their Corporate Finance Division. Johney holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India.

Vinoo Shankar Warrier
Vice President – ASE R&D
Vinoo Shankar Warrier is responsible for Product R&D at Kalkitech. He has more than 20 years of experience in the Design and Development of complex communication products and integration projects between disparate systems. Vinoo is a member of the DLMS-UA task team that maintains the DLMS/COSEM specifications. He is also a member of IEC-TC57 in the working groups 10, 17, and 18. His chief interests are communication protocols used in the energy sector, participation in standards bodies related to these protocols, and product design. Prior to joining Kalkitech, Vinoo worked for MICO (Bosch) in Bangalore, India. Vinoo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India.

Vice President - International Sales
Brijesh Krishnan is responsible for kalkiteh's business in the international markets, spreading across MEA, APAC, EU & SA. He has over 2 decades of experience in the industry, working with some of the leading Technology & IT service providers . He has been fortunate enough to work with many of the leading Energy & Utilities companies across the continents, enabling them through their Digital Transformations. Harikumar Sreedharan
Vice President - Projects
Harikumar Sreedharan is Vice President - Projects at Kalkitech. In this role, he is responsible for the management of Sync Products business group including execution of large system projects . He comes with a wide range of over 27 years of experience in the Power Utility Segment handling large turnkey projects of Electrical Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Systems. Prior to joining Kalkitech, Harikumar was instrumental in setting up and leading the Projects Division business group in Easun Reyrolle Ltd. His other areas of experience includes Oil and Gas industry with Ray international LLC , Utility Projects with VATech T&D (now SIEMENS) and Crompton Greaves Ltd. Harikumar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, India

Krishnamoorthy Ramanath
Vice President - India Sales
Krishnamoorthy is Vice President - India Sales. In his role, he is responsible for sales in India and the SAARC region. He has more than 35 years of experience in the Electrical Industry, inclusive of 9 years in the GCC. Prior to joining Kalkitech, he was with HPL Electric and Power Ltd, heading their International Business. Prior to that he was in the GCC in Top Management Positions. He has been with ABB India, for 22 years where he last served as the Business Area Manager for their Low Voltage Business. He holds a master’s degree in Physics and Bachelors (Hons) Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from B.I.T.S Pilani. He also holds a Management Program Certificate from IIM (B).
